introduction to liza ybarra

born and rasied in the barrio on san antonio's west side, 12 year veteran of the latin entertainment industry,  liza ybarra, who has just completed her first full length album "anoche sone", first  broke into the business with grupo elusion, which would open up for tropa f.

simultaneously liza  was pursuing an acting career in chicano theatre. her first huge break came in '99 when she auditioned for the selena musical and was selected 2nd runner up on the "christina show". liza landed the role of sister suzzette. she appeared in both u.s. productions: "selena forever" and won the role again for "selena:a celebration of life".

upon returning to s.a., liza took time off to start a family and has one son c.j.
in the meantime liza started a third, and so far the greatest, direction in her career as a songwriter and composer.  in '04 she met up with a fellow selena admirer and he ended up producing her first cd, in which she wrote 10 of the 11 songs. if liza keeps up this pace of ever more complex and lyrically mature songs she may end up one of the treasures that san antonio has had to offer.

the album, entitled "anoche sone". has recieved many strong reviews including great compliments from ramiro burr. she has enjoyed widespread support for her debut cd from all over the u.s. and mexico and has had 7 different songs chart, including 3 number 1's!!

liza is successfully juggling her live performances, with her day job, and role as a single mom; and has done shows or presentations recently for the "tejano music awards", "tejano classic tv", "premios a la music latina", tejano academy “tejano & grupero tv show”, ceasar chavez march, and a private performance at a laredo children’s shelter, and their city parade!
